4/8/2019 3 Comments Pale Blue Dot."In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves."
- Carl Sagan This one small phrase, in this very touching, appealing piece of writing caught my eye, and made me curious, and uneasy. Just thinking about how far astronomers have seen into our galaxy, even farther, it made me curious as how much we really know. But the reason I felt uneasy, was because there will be nothing, and no one, to turn to once our somehow populated planet starts to crumble and perish. Nobody will come to help us, because nobody will care. If there IS other life out there, they possibly wont be bothered to save a planet that's being killed by its own inhabitants. Carl Sagan made a very intelligent, moving speech, that caught a lot of peoples attention. I think everyone should hear (or read), this, so we can protect the Earth and save it from ourselves. We have the privilege of living on this planet, and most people throw it away, damaging things that keep us safe. Even if we tried to recover the Earth, it will perhaps never be the same. I hope I made a point, and changed some peoples minds about our very small planet. I hope people will care more for it, and learn to respect Earth. After all, its just a pale blue dot.

One Thing I Would Change in the World, the Environment, or My Life.If I could change anything in the world I would get rid of polution. It is a big problem, that effects the whole world. Polution is worse in some places more than others. I would stop all polution, so we could live healthy life. There would be no smoke in the sky, no oil in the oceans, and no dangerous garbage or waste to harm animals. The way people live would change. We would have to use electric cars, instead of gas cars. Factories that produced smoke would be shut down. Lots of jobs would be gone, and new jobs would open up. If I could stop polution, a lot of schools and parks would be much cleaner and healthier. Wildlife would grow more, and the garbage wouldn't effect the plants and growth. |
